Are You In Labor? Is the Baby Here Yet? Stop Bugging Me!

As mentioned last week, working this late in pregnancy has become a joke . Each time I am in the office, I feel as if I am on a hidden camera show. While my co-workers have good-hearted sweet intent, my heart that has turned sour due to the strain from carrying a child for the last 38 weeks , doesn’t care.

Now the questions and concern has spread to my family. While my daughter has been no help, she is convinced I am delivering soon. Yesterday, my 8 year old in all of her psychic wisdom figured it was the day for the baby to arrive. Before we woke up, she had called family and Face timed to inform them of the appending news.  We were woken up by our phones ringing asking about the babe and how I was doing with concern.

Are You in Labor?

Is the Baby Here Yet?

NO and NO.

Just stop people! I know your concern for me is real, but I’m a big girl now. This is my 4th time and the questions you ask – make my brain itch.

But thank you for your concern. I am now going to go fry bigger fish, like playing with my other kids while I can, getting as much rest as possible and sorting socks.

Well props to you for sticking it out. Maybe you should get a t-shirt printed like the above sign?

I am always in awe when I hear of people working up until “the very end” in the US – here in Germany it is actually illegal to work 6 weeks before your estimated delivery date- I often wonder though if it’s partially society’s fear of very pregnant women, as you describe.

Here’s wishing you the most relaxing time possible!!! Best of luck

I worked at Walmart as a cashier up till 38 weeks with my firstborn. Everyday, all day my supervisors, coworkers, even the store manager would stop by my register to “check” on me. One supervisor was so sure I would go into labor there, that she kept a trashcan filled a “spill” kit in case my water broke, a couple towels, and a first aid kit. Whenever I had a contraction (I early labored for two weeks), I swear everyone in the store held their breath until it eased off. I’m sure they were keeping better track of my contractions then I was. Thankfully, my son was born 5 days after I started my maternity leave. But I still got calls daily from my supervisor checking on me up until I went into labor. I actually called the store to let them know my son had been born so the phone calls would stop.

Are You In Labor? Is the Baby Here Yet? Stop Bugging Me!

I don't even know if it's a boy or a girl yet, and I'm supposed have a baby registry already? Hahaha, I have been getting that for awhile now, I'm still working now, and my due date is tomorrow. This is my first baby, and I'm still waiting for him to

Shopping with the Walmart Baby Registry | The Life of a Sippy Cup ...

I looked at the registry and headed back to the Baby section. The first thing I noticed about the registry is that it has absolutely no aisle numbers and most of the items had no prices! I was worried that it would be hard to actually find the items my friend registered for.

The second thing I noticed is that the first 3 pages were in a category of “Infants” and had items like clothing and bibs. The next 6 pages were under the category undefined and was a mix of everything from toys to bottles to diaper bags. Nothing was grouped together either. I noticed some pacifiers on page 4, but then also on page 6!

After I checked out the whole entire baby section, I decided to take a look  at my friend’s registry.

The first thing that caught my eye was a pack of bibs. Like I said earlier, the registry doesn’t have aisle numbers, so you have to look at the description and match it up on the little tag. Luckily, I used to work in retail so I knew to match up the UPC codes but I know the average consumer doesn’t know to do that.

I like to buy a bunch of little items rather than one big item!

I like the ease of shopping at Walmart, because they are everywhere! In the future though, I’m not sure if I would register there because it was very hard to find the products. I did talk to a Walmart employee who told me they are in the process of giving the aisles numbers and then it will be on their registries. Once they do that, it will be a huge help and timesaver. For the average person, I think it would be very time consuming to look at all the little tags and barcodes to make sure they match up.

I also like that there is a wide variety of items from Walmart. With them selling even furniture, you can get everything you need for your baby right from Walmart! There is also the benefit of price! Walmart has good prices on all of these items!

Since Walmart is a place to go for shopping for baby gifts, I think it would be a great idea if they would offer more keepsakes or personalized items. Even if they offered personalized items on their website! Every new mom LOVES personalized items (Hayden has too many to count and most of them were gifts) and I think people would love the opportunity to buy them! It would be a great thing to add to registries. I know when I am looking for ideas for baby gifts, I always look online first and I’m drawn to personalized items to combine with the practical gifts!
