'The Voice' tour begins tonight! EW catches up with the contestants at ...

(But not the superstar coaches !) launches tonight at Los Angeles’ Gibson Amphitheatre. So, in preparation for the six-city tour, EW caught up with the folks hitting the road — that’d be Beverly McClellan, Frenchie Davis, Dia Frampton, Xenia, Nakia, Vicci Martinez, Casey Weston, and winner Javier Colon — yesterday as they had a little time between rehearsals.

Here’s what scoop we could glean from them about the tour — and as a bonus, below, you’ll find a little video of the eight belters rehearsing the “Faith”/”Freedom” (George Michael extravaganza!) opening to show, along with Nakia going solo with Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You”:

. But for this, it’s a lot more relaxed. I wish I was doing ‘Dog Days Are Over,’ but they didn’t put that on the list — I have no idea why. I think all of us would have probably made some changes. But I loved every song I did, so I don’t really have any reason to complain.”

Beverly McClellan: “What is my moment during the tour? All of it is going to be my moment, and I’ll tell you why: Because I get to hang out here with some of the coolest people in the world. Frenchie Davis, I get to rock and be a part of her choir on ‘Like a Prayer’! There’s going to be so many glorious moments. I get to go on a tour with some of the coolest people in the world and sing with them and do my own thing, too. If that’s not a freaking awesome deal there, I don’t know what it is! We all bring our A-game here. I am going to be singing ‘Beautiful’ with Nakia. I said, You know, the two unlikely people here to sing that here would be me and you! On the lesbian and gay scene, that’s been an anthem for some time for lots of people.”

Javier Colon: “We get to sing some songs from the show, as well as a couple that folks might not see coming. I’m going to be singing ‘Time After Time’ and ‘How to Fix You,’ and then ‘Stitch By Stitch,’ which is my single. Then there’s one surprise: Folks actually get to vote on one during the show, too. They text and then at the end of the show, it’s all tabulated, and that’s the one that I sing.”

Xenia: “I’ve never been on a tour. I’m actually not nervous. It’s mostly just excitement. We’ll see when the crowd is out there. I’m doing ‘Break Even’ and ‘Price Tag.’ Casey and Beverly are coming out with me and playing guitar for ‘Price Tag.’ It’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s cool because, before we were competing and going against each other, and now it’s going to be all of performing our songs with each other.

Ceaselessly into the past
Ceaselessly into the past

It's possible, after all, that I will never love a song as much or as purely as I loved "Losing My Religion" in 1991, when I was 11 years old and couldn't even begin to unpack what I was hearing: those defeated lyrics, a swell of strings, that high,

Geek Girl Navigating the World - The Rebel Meditations

I do find that I tend to appreciate music with lyrics that don't end up lost in all of the score and sound effects. Basically, I want music that I can sing along to, making up what I lack in talent with both volume and enthusiasm.

DIA FRAMPTON - LOSING MY RELIGION LYRICS

Life is bigger
It's bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no I've said too much
I set it up

That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

Every whisper
