Midlife – The Age of Miracles
Thank you for your question. There are two that I read now that I'd be happy to talk. I discovered that I trip through the quarantine myself, is that there are more books and more favorable out on the subject, so I'm pretty sure my list will grow. This in itself is very encouraging. However, I guess we should not be too surprised - after all, we are the largest population!Books for Midlife Women and Men
The two books I read now the mid-life are written for women.I just started looking in books on quarantine specifically for men, will not be having too much to offer in the blog this week for my male readers. I found that reading books by and for men helped me to understand them better, and, for men read this blog, you could gather some useful information and ideas by reading one or many of these books on women. And if you know of any good resources for forty men, please feel free to share in the "Comments" section below.
Books for women in their forties
What is written by Marianne Williamson, a renowned speaker and author of the bestseller "A Return to Love," "Healing of America", "value of a woman", "Illuminata" and other works. Some may know it by its connection to a Course in Miracles.
The purpose of this book is "psychologically and spiritually reframe the transition [midlife] so that it leads to a wonderful sense of joy and enlightenment." And so powerfully by Marianne, "Midlife is not a crisis is a time of rebirth."My sentiments exactly! When my friend first gave me this book, I set aside for a few weeks and was busy with other things. Then one morning I picked it up, just planning to browse at a high level, and I was so struck by the power of the wisdom of Marianne Short, I could not let go. I felt like she and describe exactly what I was experiencing and feeling and thinking! And she weaves in the most beautiful prayers of strength and inspiration throughout the book. This is a must-read for women in their forties! Very inspiring, very exciting!
What is written by Sarah Brokaw, a licensed therapist with a practice in Beverly Hills, California. I just entered this book. "In his practice as a licensed therapist and through focus groups across the country, Sarah Brokaw has found that women who play in the quarantine more smoothly - which will prosper and enjoy the best years of their life - are those that promote five fundamental values in themselves. In Fortytude, it shows how a woman can nurture these qualities in itself, and grow and prosper. The five core values are: Grace - when a woman lives with integrity, building on its own forces while admiring the strengths of others. Connectivity - knows of satisfaction in connections with others. Achieving - the sense of goals and get things done - which is necessary in today's world, where women are expected to cram 48 hours of life in each 24-hour day. Adventure - a willingness to seek challenges outside the normal comfort zone. Spirituality - a personal approach to religion, and understanding that life has meaning beyond the daily details.Brokaw reassuring voice in and through the stories of incredible women from all walks of life, readers can learn how they too can embrace and fully enjoy their forties, fifties and beyond.
Information Overcoming Sexual Dysfunction – For Women
There are many reasons for sexual dysfunction in women. They may feel inhibited, they may be unable to reach orgasm or maybe they have trouble having one at all.
Inhibition is usually more of a problem for younger women and older women. For younger women their ignorance and inexperience can make them feel intimidated. With older women, they often are holding onto ideas from when they were growing up about how women should feel about sex.
Women need to know that learning about what makes them feel good is not a bad thing to do. A woman needs to be able to explore her own body and become comfortable with it. Sex will be more satisfying for the woman who can “take care of” her own needs. Getting over ideas like sex is for a man’s pleasure only may be hard for the older woman who was raised with old-fashioned ideas.
Being able to reach orgasm takes self-awareness and the ability to relax and let go. This can be a trust issue for some women, which is normal. Sex is an intimate act that a woman sees more emotionally than a man does. For many men, it is more of an act where for a woman it is more emotionally based.
Another reason for sexual dysfunction is when sex is painful due to a condition called vaginismus. This is when the muscles surrounding the opening of the vagina involuntarily tighten. Sex is painful and therefore a woman avoids it or does not enjoy it. This condition has a psychological basis and can be fixed with stretching exercises.
Therapy can help a woman overcome sexual dysfunction and go on to live a happier life. Relationships can be ruined when a woman is too embarrassed to get treatment. There is no reason to suffer or give up a normal part of a healthy relationship when it can be fixed.
Sexual dysfunctions can be caused by a psychological problem, a medical problem, or a combination of both. Side effects of some medications are also known to cause a decrease in libido. Ironically, Lexapro, a medication used to treat depression and anxiety is known to have this effect on some patients. Emotional and physical upheaval during mid-life
