Family holds funeral, burial for fallen NC Marine

A funeral service and burial is being held Monday for 32-year-old Staff Sgt. Leon Lucas Jr., who died earlier this month after being wounded during combat in Afghanistan.

The Wilson man's funeral is at a Baptist church in Jacksonville followed by burial in a nearby state veterans cemetery.

Lucas leaves behind a wife, a 4-year-old son and a 2-year-old son. His family says he and his wife were expecting a third child in December.

Lucas was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment based at Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Bev Perdue’s veto claim that incidents of voter fraud in North Carolina are relatively rare and the legislation is unneeded, but what they’re really saying is that incidents of voter fraud that have been uncovered are relatively rare. How many dead voters, voters who no longer live in this state or are otherwise ineligible, have cast ballots in Tar Heel elections?

Without some type of safeguards on the voting system, how will anyone ever know?
