“I was getting into it (conditioning-wise), but I wasn’t where I wanted to be,’’ Williams said. “Now I am. I was determined right after the season to get myself in the best possible shape and that just carried over to now. When I was on (winter) break, I ran myself to death. I think Saturday’s (scrimmage) will be more indicative or more telling than any of this because we’ve only had twenty (live running) plays.’’ Schiano announced that defensive end Manny Abreu (head), running back Jawan Jamison (hamstring) and safety Rashad Knight (who had surgery on his broken foot yesterday) will all miss Saturday’s scrimmage. The Rutgers coach isn’t sure about the status of running back Jeremy Deering (head) and cornerback Logan Ryan (leg), while reserve wideout J.T. Tartacoff (hamstring) was also held out of practice and is uncertain for the first intrasquad scrimmage.
