Carlisle police (243-5252)
• Brenda L. Denburt, 45, of Mechanicsburg was charged with retail theft after police said she tried to steal items from the Giant store on Spring Garden Road at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 10.
An asset protection associate told police she saw Denburt place several items in her purse as she walked through the store.
The associate said Denburt paid for some items she had in a shopping cart but did not pay for the items in the purse.
The stolen items were valued at $29.37.
North Middleton Township (243-7910)
• Police are warning residents about a white box truck that is selling meat and freezers in the township without a solicitation permit.
The individuals selling the meat and freezers claim to be with "Capital Meats."
Residents who see the truck are asked to call police.
State police at Newport (567-3110)
• Silver coins and jewelry were stolen from a home in the 1000 block of North High Street in Duncannon between 1 p.m. Aug. 4 and 8 p.m. Aug. 6.
The lock to a garage in the 900 block of North High Street, which belongs to the homeowner, was broken off during the same period.
Police said the garage was entered, but nothing was taken from inside.
• A 16-foot aluminum Jon Boat was stolen from a home in the first block of North Market Street in Millerstown between midnight and 4 a.m. July 28.
• Batteries were stolen from a Camp Hill man's vehicles in the 1600 block of Bucks Valley Road in Buffalo Township between 3 p.m. Aug. 9 and 7 a.m. Aug. 10.
The batteries were taken from a Chevy Blazer and a Dodge Dakota.
• A beagle-hounddog mix was stolen from a back yard in the 100 block of South 4th Street in Newport between 1 and 5 p.m. Aug. 5.
The pet's cage was also stolen.
• A mailbox in the 200 block of Perry Valley Road in Greenwood Township was smashed with a blunt object around 1 p.m. Aug. 8.
• Someone brake-checked a man's vehicle and then threw a brown bottle at it on Route 11/15 in Buffalo Township July 27.
No damage was reported.
• A large amount of change was stolen from a home in the 300 block of Old State Road in Carroll Township between 1 p.m. Aug. 6 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 7.
Someone got into the home by removing an air conditioning unit.
